Reinstate the Water Bill Exemption!

Offering food, shelter, and help in building a

better life to persons who are homeless.

Emergency overnight shelter at

Franciscan House of Mary & Joseph

~ open every night of the year 

~ 257 beds with blanket, sheets, & pillow

~ supper, breakfast & showers 

~ visits by medical and mental health   

   outreach workers 

~ on-site one-on-one case management

~ Interim Housing program for 14 participants

~Franciscan Annex shelter with 65 additional beds a few blocks away

~ located on the West Side of Chicago

 

A dining room and supportive services at the Marquard Center 

~ full supper with main course and side dishes

~ showers

~ free drop-off laundry service 

~ visits by health care workers

~ on-site one-on-one case management

~ located a few miles NW of downtown Chicago

 

Our Case Management Program, where trained case managers help our guests

~ set goals & establish priorities

~ find and access housing & social services

~ deal with multiple issues 

~ build a better life

~ Offices at the shelter, soup kitchen, and St. Peter's Church in the Loop

Our two interim housing programs:

Streets to Home -

~ vouchers for 43 units of supportive housing

~ funds for four case managers who provide general case management services, place homeless individuals into housing, and provide supportive services so that those in housing don't return to the streets.

~ primarily funded by the City of Chicago

 

The Interim Housing program at Franciscan House

~ 16 participants (included in the total of 252 participants) who have 24 hour access to the shelter

~ goal is to move to permanent housing in 120 days

~ life skills classes, motivational meetings, opportunities for job training, skill building through volunteering

~ intensive case management

 

We offer the homeless of Chicago a healthy dose of respect and dignity along with our emergency services and one-on-one practical assistance. You, too, can reach out to these men, women and children who have no place else to turn.
