Fishing for Friends
Contest rules
Contestants may send the Summer Appeal letter to their friends by mail or present it to them in person.
Contestants may call Carin at FOA to find out if any of their contacts have sent donations that reference the contestant’s name. All donations from a donor will be counted as one donation. The contestant’s own donation will be counted towards his or her total.
Donors may send their donations directly to FOA by mail if they list the contestant’s name on the response envelope. If the contestant collects checks and sends them to FOA in one envelope, the contestant’s name must appear in a note enclosed with the donations so we can give proper credit to the contestant. Unless a donation refers to the contestant, the donation will not be counted towards the contestant’s total.
Donations may be obtained from individuals as well as corporations.
All checks must be made payable to “Franciscan Outreach Association.” Contestants are not allowed to collect cash. Donors may make a donation on line at www.franoutreach.org/donate.htm but they must also send an email stating the name of the contestant to whom they’d like the donation attributed.
Only donations received by Franciscan Outreach Association between August 15, 2002 and September 30, 2002, will be counted towards the contestant’s total.
Employees and Directors of Franciscan Outreach are not eligible to participate.
Two winners will be awarded a prize. Each prize will be a gift basket of items chosen by Franciscan Outreach Association. These prizes will be given to:
1. the contestant who has the highest number of donations made that refer to the contestant
2. the contestant who has the highest total dollar amount of donations made that refer to the contestant
Donations brought in by married couples living at the same address will be counted together.
Each contestant’s list of donations will be kept by Franciscan Outreach Association. Decisions of FOA are final.
Donors must agree to the following condition that will appear on the card the contestant will send or present to the donor: “You agree that FOA may tell me whether you made a donation and how much it was. Any other donations you make will be kept confidential.”
New donors will be added to FOA’s mailing list. As a general policy, FOA does not rent or sell the names on its mailing list to any other organization, although FOA reserves the right to do so in the future.
Weekend dinner service will be resumed only if, in the exclusive judgement of the management of FOA, FOA is in the proper financial condition needed to maintain the position of weekend manager. If sufficient funds are not received through this and/or other sources, then weekend dinner service may not be resumed.
Promises of a bequest in a will or trust or other planned gifts, and donations of goods such as food, clothing, automobiles, personal care items will not count towards contest totals. Donations of stock that are received by September 30, 2002, will count towards contest totals provided the other requirements are met.
