Position Available for Case Management Assistant

Franciscan Outreach Association is a homeless service organization with a 246 bed overnight shelter, a soup kitchen, and case managers who help the homeless find whatever they need to build a better life. Our website is www.franoutreach.org. We are in search of a Case Management Assistant for our overnight shelter. This is a full-time position that reports to the Program Director. Components of the position include:

• Greet homeless guests as they come to the door seeking their mail, the use of the telephone, or a meeting with a case manager
• Be knowledgeable about the duties of the case managers so as to actively refer guests to case managers for services
• Complete a basic intake questionnaire with new guests who seek case management services
• Record contacts with clients for statistical purposes
• Check the previous nights statistics for completeness and report each day to the Program Director
• Answer telephone
• Sort mail for guests
• Light correspondence and word processing
• Other duties as assigned

Successful applicants will have:

·  Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word

·  The ability to work independently and as part of a team

·  The ability to interact verbally and in person with volunteers, staff, guests, visitors, and others

·  A pleasant, helpful demeanor with guests and staff

·  The ability to maintain boundaries and consistently carry out shelter procedures
